Dear Zion Parishioners:

As promised, we want to give you this update to some changes we have made to our re-opening plans. We again met in Council on May 27th, after the State issued new guidelines for re-opening houses of worship.

We will now hold our first Sunday service, in church, on Sunday, June 14 at 9:00 AM, instead of June 21.

The June 14 date was chosen in compromise. We heard from several of you after the newsletter was mailed and we thank you for your comments. We have spent many hours in discussion about the correct way to handle re-opening. We have spent an additional many hours attempting to decipher the various, and at times conflicting, guidance from the “rule makers.” Now we can proceed onward.

You will notice some safety measures in place when you return on June 14th. We must continue to follow CDC, State and Synod guidelines appropriate for Zion Cloverdale. Social distancing and sanitation are top priorities. Face masks are encouraged but not mandated; you will need to decide your level of vulnerability to the COVID-19 virus in regards to wearing a face mask. We are at this time limited to 25% capacity in the sanctuary and fellowship hall; we believe we will make it work just fine. We will continue to increase capacity as the State permits.

Attached with this letter is our intended protocol to begin worship and gather at the church once again. Please take a moment to read these guidelines. If you would like to donate sanitation items, please leave them in the Narthex or kitchen. We could use items such as antibacterial/virus cleaners, hand wipes, alcohol based hand sanitizer, etc. We are also in need of face masks for worshipers who feel the need to use one but have forgotten their own.

In conclusion, we thank you for your support and your patience. We eagerly await June 14th. We pray nothing will prevent this march forward. And, we praise God for holding us near Him these past several weeks. It will be wonderful to once again be able to join in God’s praise with all of you.

Sincerely,
